As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, there has been lockdown issued in many countries of the world where everyone is staying at home waiting till there is a solution to the pandemic.
Now there are a lot of excuses as to why you should stay unfit since you are not going anywhere. You are at home, and this a chance for you to acquire bad eating habits and all, but instead, the reverse is supposed to be the case.
This period is supposed for you to use to develop yourself and improve your fitness. Since it has been predicted that since the world is on pause right now when the world resumes activities, only those who have been preparing for the post – lockdown period will be able to move with time.
Therefore on the top of your list should be maintaining fitness, so you don’t fall ill once activities resume in a rush.
There are a lot of things you can do to keep fit now even when the gyms and other places are closed. Below are some of such things that could be done:
Watch your eating habits:
If you keep eating different types and classes of food without proper timing or planning, then you are likely to become unfit.
It is advised that you watch what you eat especially fatty foods and also when you eat as it is not proper to eat late at night just before going to bed
Also, watching your intake of water to make sure that you are taking enough water into your body system will help to keep you hydrated, strong, and fit.
Regular exercise:
Even though the gyms and everywhere else have been locked, you can still keep fit by doing basic and simple exercises at home. Exercises like Sit-ups, Push-ups, crunches, and others will help you keep fit during this lockdown.
To stay fit by doing exercise, you could run around the house, walk up and down the stairs rather than just being lazy around the house.
Get enough sleep: Sleeping will help you to be more relaxed and help you get more productive, so getting enough sleep will go a long way in helping to keep fit. Also, remember to maintain a proper pattern for sleeping and to wake up even though you don’t have anywhere to go because even sleeping is dangerous.
Do mental exercises: it is not a discovery that physical fitness affects mental fitness, and likewise so, during this lockdown is the perfect time to find a way to boost your mental health by doing mental exercises. You could do this by just looking for a place in your home, that is quiet, maybe your room. Sitting quietly and playing beautiful music that helps you to relax. This exercise will help your brain relax while you cut yourself off from the whole world and live on your planet for a couple of hours; this helps you to think better.
Doing Chores:
Doing chores at home during the lockdown will help you to keep fit mentally by regularly using your brain while doing these chores.
Aside from being physically fit this period should also be used to ensure that you are also emotionally fit, and that could be done through the following ways:
- Pay attention to your moods and feelings:
- Being away from people you have gotten used to is harmful to your mental health, so watching your moods and feeling during this period is best and also know the things to do when you are emotionally down, like calling to check on people or searching for contents that will help lift you.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it: If you need any form of help, do well to ask people close to you rather than keep it to yourself.
- Watch the contents you check: As much as you are bored, still do well to filter the contents you check out on the internet.
